Community Pantry The Manna-supported pantry provides basic staples on a monthly basis to families needing to extend their food budgets. Judy Smith is the Manna coordinator.
Thrift Shop The depository of gently used clothing, household goods and furniture supports families which have special needs.
Community Chest A source of handicapped and medical aids equips FCCA residents at no cost. Jackie Lafer is the contact for the Community Chest.
Non-Denominational Services Led by Skip and Christina Tucker, these activities for youth are held on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.
Benefits Fund raisers help provide assistance to individuals or families confronted by unusual circumstances or special needs.
Community Activities A variety of events occur under the auspices of the FCCA. The monthly Saturday social gatherings with dinner and dance occur the first Saturday of each month. Special activities are planned around the holidays of the Fourth of July and Christmas. Recognition events occur for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Veterans Day.
Bluegrass Jam The Bluegrass Jam is the major fund raiser for the FCCA and monies from the jam support the college scholarships and the community center. The jam showcases local musical groups and clogging teams on the outdoor stage. The family-oriented event continues the tradition of spreading mountain music to new generations.
Facilities Utilization Families and groups may rent the cafeteria and/or gym for private gatherings. MaryAnn Teague maintains the facilities calendar. The FCCA maintains a walking tract on the school grounds which is available to any walker. The brick building houses the Fines Creek branch of the Haywood County library. The library is open Monday Thursday.
